Pack Meeting

Last night was Ben’s long awaited pack meeting. He finished all of the requirements for his Wolf in June and has been waiting “patiently” ever since to actually get his patch. He was happy that the day finally arrived. Along with his Wolf badge, he received one gold arrow point, one silver arrow point, three more belt loops, and his swimming pin. I’m glad that he is so excited about scouts. I think he has read both the Wolf and Bear handbooks from cover to cover. The other day I was talking to Nate about what I was planning for our next den meeting, and Ben said “so you’re having them do the What’s Cooking? requirement from the Bear book.” He is a funny kid.

This was also the first pack meeting where I was in charge of coming up with the skit. Cub Scout skits cause me a lot of anxiety. They are all lame, but I wanted a lame one that at least got one big chuckle. My quality husband rescued me and helped the boys do the “classic” lawnmower skit. It worked out great. I’m glad he is on my team.

You are one hot momma in that scout uniform!
Way to go Ben, you are awesome! You should just have Ben do your calling for you.

Pretty hot. I told Nate that it makes me look five months pregnant.

Okay Katie, here is the “classic” (according to Nate) lawnmower skit. A man (cub scout) walks into a lawnmower shop and says he wants to buy a new lawnmower. The storekeeper (Nate in this case) shows him the first mower (another cub scout curled up on the ground). The storekeeper tells him all the great things about the mower (horsepower etc.) and then tells the man to start it up. The man pulls the (imaginary) cord and the lawnmower (cub scout) makes a sputtering noise and then dies out. They do the same thing for one or two more mowers and then the storekeeper tells the man to get someone to help him. The man (cub scout) picks someone from the audience (usually the bishop or the cub master) to come and help him start the lawnmower. When the helper pulls the cord, the lawnmower boy makes a big revving sound and keeps going and the storekeeper says “I guess all we needed was a big jerk!” Everyone laughs and you sit down. Ta-da.
