Junior Entomologists
The girls have been collecting bugs ever since Ben made his collection last year. Getting the jar full of bugs out of my freezer was at the top of my to-do list this summer and we finally crossed it off last week. I have to say that the biology teacher in me thought it was pretty fun to see the kids get so excited about finding new bugs. We even pulled out my old field guide so they could look up the ones they didn’t already know. It was a great little science project . . . but hurray for the return of a bug-free freezer!

That is so cool!! :) I love little science projects, and love doing them with my kids. So does freezing them preserve them?? You will have to share!!
Really the freezing is just to kill them. You can put them in a jar with cotton balls soaked in rubbing alcohol or fingernail polish remover, but then you have to watch them twitch. It's a little too graphically violent for me.
After zooming in on your bug collections, our kids were officially grossed out! You are a cool mom!
Some of bugs look really cool. Very impressive girls.I know where I am sending my kids for bugs projects and snake adventures:)
The bugs collections are so awesome(lots of enthusiasm)!!!

So cool!!!!
I would be glad to get that out of my freezer as well! It's quite the impressive collection, but I would be freaked out capturing a wolf spider and black widow.
