We had a deer visit the vacant lot behind our house on New Year’s Day. The kids were super excited about seeing wildlife in our own backyard. We were bummed that our gate wasn’t open so she could come even closer. After she moved away from it, Nate tried to sneak over and open the gate. It’s a bit tricky to sneak up on a deer across crunchy snow. She seemed okay with him being out there until he gave the gate a big shove to push it open. She bolted. We left the gate open just in case she wanders back this way.

We see so many deer in our yard/neighborhood the kids don't even flinch anymore. I never thought I would live in a place where I had to look for deer before I backed out of the garage. Crazy.
