We took the kids for a little hike on Saturday. We passed 19 yard sales on the 8 mile drive
to the trailhead. The kids thought it
was hilarious. They declared June 9th
“National Yard Sale Day.” It was
overcast and 72 degrees . . . perfect weather for a morning hike. We went far enough to get a good view of the
waterfall and then went a little further so we could see up the canyon. I have a cold and had to blow my nose 17
times and Abby fell (twice) and skinned her knee. Other than that, we had a great time.
When we got home, we spent a couple of hours doing yard work. We pulled up ¾ of our raspberries. They were the varieties we didn’t love and
they were being choked out a bit by some plants growing in from the neighbor’s
side of the fence. We decided we would
just start fresh with some new plants.
The kids were good helpers. They
aren’t really strong enough to do much of the heavy labor, but they are great
at doing grunt work.
All in all it was a quality family day. I’m glad we fought the urge to be lazy all
day.
