Boating with the Eckardts

We took the Eckardts out boating last week. The weather was beautiful and made up for the less than stellar conditions of our last boating trip together. Jason and Claudy both tried skiing this time around and both managed to get up on skis. Jason was a little better at staying up on the skis, but Claudy wins the prize for not giving up. The kids had loads of fun. Korbin and Maddie were both more adventurous than last year and our kids loved having friends there to play with.

The most memorable moment of the day was when Abby wanted to ride on the tube all by herself. We always have the kids start a little bit back on the tube so the front end doesn’t submerge when the boat starts moving. Abby tried, but she is just too little to shift her weight to the back of the tube. As soon as we started moving, the nose of the tube dipped and Abby went face first into the water. It was really kind of funny to watch. Her little arms and legs were kicking like crazy trying their best to keep her on the tube. The amazing part is that she didn’t freak out when she fell off. She just looked at us like “what now?” and swam over to the tube. She was so proud of herself when we told her that Ben and Emily and Elise had all freaked out the first time they fell off the tube. In the last few days she has reminded us 17 times that “I am the only one in our family who didn’t scream when I fell off the tube.” She is a cute, brave girl and isn’t about to let us forget it.

Go Abby! I like re-living summer by reading your blog. I have a few summer posts to catch up on, too.

Jason had a great laugh when he saw the picture of me on this post. My eyes just got huge. This is probably the only non blurry picture of me.
Good thing I like you guys a lot or I would be half tempted to post picture DSCN1678. :)

Good times! Good times! We all had a blast!!!
